Tesco is the 3rd largest retailer in the world, and the largest British retailer by both domestic market share and global sales, with profits exceeding £2 billion worldwide.

Succeed have led the design of a comprehensive HR and Time and Attendance system to support the Tesco Operating Model. The Operating Model will standardise and simplify Tesco processes across all the 13 countries Tesco operate in.

Succeed were initially engaged to lead the design of the Group repeatable Time and Attendance solution for Tesco. The Time and Attendance team, led by Succeed, performed the Analysis, Design and Prototype build in less than five months after which they supported the production build and testing for the successful deployment into the US. The solution has been live in the US since November 2007, and is now supporting Time and Attendance for over 50 stores – and this number is expected to grow to over 200 stores within a year.

Succeed had an in depth understanding of the capability of the PeopleSoft package, and an implementation approach that ensured that the design was driven by our operating model processes rather than processes that were driven by the system.

Central to creating a process-driven design was the use of the PeopleSoft enterprise portal to create role-based “homepages” for end users. The homepage concept has been one of the best ways of dealing with the change of a new the system to Tesco end users. Users only have access to the system links, alerts, and reports which support the processes they are required to participate in.

After completing the Time and Attendance Group design, the Succeed team were then heavily involved in the completion of the Group design for the core HR package. Since then Succeed resources have been deployed onto the Group Labour Scheduling project.
